I painted the headlight bezels with a little drybrushed silver, added the glass, and then decided to break one and put a little wire in there as if someone had yanked out the bulb and wire with it . . . hum, maybe it's not so good a shot . . .

Image

This one is a little better. Believe it or not the headlight glass was dusted with some grime . . .

Hum . . . how pecular that the vehicle would display some bird droppings . . . hum . . .. :D

Image

Well, darn it, look where the sparrows have found a little home? We are gonna have to start charging them rent!!!

Image

After the fire, the headliner was torn up and I guess the birds just found it too cozy, those torn up pockets . . .

Added a dirty glass window, turned almost white because of the fire . . . I might still have to dirty it up a bit more . . .

Hum . . . and there's a rag that was used to keep out rain and other critters from entering the gas tank . . .

Image

A little mesh screen rounds out the body details . . .

Image

Now, it is on to the rolling chassis!!!

Here are some pics of the chassis and dashboard . . . I decided to put the dashboard in just to have a little bit of detail visible through the windows . . .

I opened the glove compartment and busted through the gauges . . .

Image

Image

I think I am going to paint the dashboard a dark green and then the wheels will be like the hood, that lighter green . . .

Image

Closer in . . .

Here's the primered chassis in all its glory . . . note how all the parts have been assembled and glued . . . and the frame has been squared up so that all the tires touch down and sit right . . .

Image

Image

I also worked on a couple of hubcaps and the fenders . . . trying to make them look aged and pitted but still chromed--original chrome!!! You know that has to be expensive to refurbish! :D :D :D

Got the tires done . . . I like to use Terry's technique of the tire-in-bag-o-dirt/shake&bake method . . .

Image

Image

Those bright rings around the wheels on the tire will be airbrushed off . . .

Stay tuned in for more!

Rolling chassis coming together . . . I airbrushed it with different shades of runs . . . and gave it a light wash of Rustall . . . next up are the powders and pigments . . .

All right, folks, here's some pics . . . I have to confess the fun with this has nearly killed me! :D :D :D

Image

You can see the dashboard hinted on there, which is how I wanted it to be . . . just an empty interior!

Image

I decided not to rope the hood to the roof, so I threw one of the 2x2s on the back just for the WHY NOT? factor. I'm not worried, it's not glued down.

Here are some more pics . . .

It ended up being a very tight fit and I almost thought it was not going to work, but a little coaxing did it!

One of my favorite pics of this entire build right here:

Here are just a couple more shots. Tomorrow, I might start on a simple base for it . . . some dirt, some weeds, nothing fancy . . .

Image

In this next shot you can see the open glove compartment through the window. Lucky shot!
